Emily Arthur

Emily Arthur is a printmaker whose work has expanded into sculpture, installation, and sound, and often incorporates historical documents as a response to the relationship people have to loss, displacement, and land. Her artwork is included in the permanent collections of the Saint Louis Art Museum, Chazen Museum of Art (UW-Madison), Minneapolis Museum of American Art, Tweed Art Museum, Denver Art Museum, Autry National Center of the American West, and the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. An Associate Professor of Art at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Arthur received an MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia and has served as a Fellow at the Barnes Foundation for Advanced Theoretical and Critical Research in Pennsylvania. Arthur's honors and awards include the Notable Women in the Arts Award from the National Museum of Women in the Arts and nomination for the Joan Mitchell Foundation's Painters and Sculptors Grant.
